Description
The 1988 recipients of the University's Distinguished Alumni Award, from left to right, James McClary, Karl Knapp and John Elorriaga. McClary worked for Morrison-Knudsen Co. for 45 years, serving as the firm's chairman of the board from 1972 until his retirement in 1978. Knapp was second Rhodes Scholar (1980), and graduated magna cum laude from in 1981. He went on to study English literature at Oxford, and Business Administration at Harvard Business School. Elorriaga retired as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of the United States Bank of Oregon and U.S. Bancorp in October 1987.
