PUBLIC PARTICIPATION ASKED IN POT MOUNTAIN AREA STUDY
The Clearwater National Forest has recently started studies of the 57,000 acre
Pot Mountain area in order to determine its best long-term use, The Pot
Mountain area ia the virtually undeveloped land inside the large loop in the
North Fork of the Clearwater River south of Quartz Creek.
Forest Supervisor Richard J. Pfilf, in announcing the study, stressed the
importance of public participation in both the information gathering and
decision making phases of land use planning,
Forest Service specialists are now assembling resource data from the area,
Involved are soils scientists, geologists, landscape architects, range and
wildlife specialists, recreation specialists, foresters, forest watershed experts,
and engineers. The Forest Service believes that there are other valuable ideas,
suggestions and resource information, held by members of the publ
