Coalition elects gay leader
BOISE, Idaho - The No on One Coalition,
battling against the anti-gay
rights initiative on
the Idaho general election ballot,
has hired a Montana woman to
manage its campaign.
The initiative would ban the
state from eXtending civil rights
protections to gays and lesbians.
Diane Sands will start work
Monday in Boise. She is executive
director of the Montana
Women's Lobby, Which advances
family and women's issues.
Sands is a lesbian, but that
wasn't key to her hiring, said Jen
Ray, No on One vice chair.
''We were looking for the most
qualified person," Ray said.
Sands will be paid, but the
salary hadn't been decided, Ray
