"An Ounce of Prevention" Brings Honor
Boiseans can well be proud of their town's fire prevention work. Recently, it was announced that Boise ranked
top in fire prevention in the state- an honor and an achievement.
Much of the credit for Boise's splendid record can be attributed to the untiring efforts of W. F. "Doc" Roach, ·
Captain, Fire Prevention Bureau, who on February 23rd completed 40 years service to the City of Boise. Material
recognition of this service was given to "Doc" at the membership luncheon of the Boise Chamber of Commerce.
The economic value of fire prevention ca.n be computed in dollars and cents- but its worth as a life saver can
be computed only in such intangibles as happiness and feelings of security. We can, in a small way, materially
recognize this service and show our appreciation, but a greater and deeper, lasting satisfaction will come to
"Doc" in the knowledge that he has achieved such grectt success in his work and that his fellow citizens have
paused to do him honor.
