UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOREST SERVICE IDAHO NATIO.NAL FOREST AOOnCSS HtPLY TO FOREST SUPERVISOR »NP OEFKR TO z Idaho MCCALL, IDAHO April 29, 1931. Mr. Edward F. Rhodenbaugh, University of Idaho, Southern Branch, Pocatello, Idaho. Dear Mr. Rhodenbaugh: I am very glad to have your letter of April 26 and to know that you are still contemplating a trip into the Chamberlain Basin region this summer. I feel sure that you and your associates will never regret making the trip. Under normal conditions it will not be possible to cross Elk Summit before about the 10th or 12th of July. That Is the date we crossed the summit with the first truck load last season and snow conditions so far this year are fairly similiar in that region to what they were last season. _You can drive your car as far in as our Big Creek Headquarters, which is 90 miles northeast of McCall, or If you prefer to leave your car In McCall, we can take you in either with one of our trucks or a passenger car. From our Big Creek Head quarters we will furnish you transportation by pack string to Chamberlain Basin, Cold Meadows, or any other point you desire to visit. We have cabins at Chamberlain and Cold Meadows which you are very welcome to use as long as you see fit. You and your associates should bring field beds and such other personal equipment as you believe you will need. You can purchase your subsistence supplies here in McCall. We will take care of the job of transporting your supplies from McCall and unless you already have a cooking outfit of commensurate size for your party we shall be glad to loan you one. At times there is some delay In getting kodak films here in McCall of the size or sizes you desire. For this reason, I would suggest that you bring a good supply of films with you, since you will find many things to shoot at*
